Affordable Housing for Residents

I am fighting for affordable housing because housing is not just a policy issue—it’s personal, it’s human, and it’s foundational to dignity. In 2009, I was homeless, facing the harsh reality of a system that failed to provide the basic security that every person deserves. That experience stays with me, as I saw firsthand how a lack of affordable housing can shatter lives, separate families, and drive people to the brink of despair.
In 2025, the median home price in Prince George’s County hit $470,000, while the median household income remains at about $94,000. The gap between what people earn and what they can afford to pay for housing has only grown over the last 15 years. For a county where, in 2009, more than 55% of renters were considered cost-burdened, this gap is widening to a critical point. As your councilwoman, I will support policies that protect residents, support first-time homebuyers, preserve existing affordable units, and ensure development works for the people—not against them.

Quality Education

I am fighting for early childhood education because parents should not have to choose between daycare and their career. As a mother and a community advocate, I understand the pressure families face when they can’t access quality, affordable child care that allows them to work, thrive, and provide for their families. In 2025, the average cost of childcare in Maryland is around $12,000 per year for infants, and this expense can take up to a third of a family’s annual income for many working parents. This financial burden is immense, and it keeps families from fully participating in the workforce, which ultimately hurts our economy and prevents families from achieving financial stability.
I currently serve as a board member at the Maryland Head Start Association, where I’m committed to putting families first. I know the burden, the struggle, and what families go through every day to ensure their children get the care and education they need. But we cannot continue to let this generation of children grow up undereducated—and then expect them to carry our future forward. Education is the foundation of opportunity, and without access to quality early learning, we’re setting our children up to struggle before they even begin.
As your councilwoman, I will take bold action to ensure every child has the opportunity to succeed from the very start. Specifically, I will: Expand access to affordable, high-quality child care by working with local partners to fund and build more early childhood education programs, especially in underserved communities, so no parent is forced to choose between their career and their child's future. Invest in universal pre-K to ensure that every child, regardless of their family’s income, has access to quality early learning programs that prepare them for long-term academic success and provide a strong foundation for lifelong learning. Increase funding for Head Start and other early childhood initiatives, ensuring that these essential programs can meet the growing demand—particularly in low-income areas where the need is most urgent. Every child deserves access to a nurturing, educational environment from the start. Improve teacher compensation and support, because our early childhood educators are the backbone of our children’s development. I will fight for better wages, benefits, and professional development to retain and attract skilled educators, ensuring that our children are receiving the best possible care and education.

Safer Communities

I am fighting for safe communities because safety is personal. I see roads in disrepair, streetlights unmaintained, and parks neglected—creating daily dangers for families, seniors, and children. In Prince George’s County, over 20% of streets are rated in poor condition, and 35% of residents feel unsafe walking in their neighborhoods at night. This neglect sends the message that certain communities don’t matter—and that’s unacceptable.
As your councilwoman, I will: Fix infrastructure: Over 15,000 streetlights need repair, and 10% of roads have gone unupdated for decades. I will prioritize maintenance and safety for all. Revitalize parks and public spaces: 100 parks need renovation, and many lack proper lighting. We will turn these spaces into safe, vibrant community hubs. Address environmental hazards: 20% of stormwater ponds are in poor condition. I will invest in clean, safe environments for everyone. Improve community policing: With violent crime rising by 12% in 2024, I will foster strong relationships between law enforcement and residents, ensuring safety and trust.
As a mother and academic mentor, I know our youth deserve better than being caught in a cycle of neglect. We must invest in safe spaces for learning and growth to keep them out of the criminal justice system and give them a chance to thrive.

Economic Equality

I know what it’s like to worry about the next meal or where you’ll sleep at night. I’ve been there—and I’ve seen too many of our neighbors facing that same struggle today. In District 4, hard work doesn’t always lead to stability, and that’s not fair. I’m running to change that. I will fight for living-wage jobs, affordable housing, and fair access to opportunities so that no family has to choose between rent and groceries. I’ll champion programs that help small businesses grow, prepare our residents for good jobs, and bring resources directly into our communities. But I can’t do this alone. I need your vote to make these changes a reality. Together, we can build a District 4 where every family has a fair chance to thrive, live with dignity, and hope for a better future.

Affordable Healthcare

Access to quality healthcare is essential for every resident of District 4. While many challenges are driven by state and federal policies, the County Council can make a real difference locally.
If elected, I will work to expand county-funded health programs, increase support for community clinics, improve access to preventive care, and promote mental health resources within our neighborhoods. I will also advocate for affordable ways for residents to pay for necessary medications and create partnerships with local organizations to bring healthcare services directly to our communities, ensuring no resident has to go without care.

Immigration

District 4 is home to many hardworking immigrants who contribute to our community every day. While immigration policy is mostly set at the federal level, the County Council can ensure that all residents are treated fairly, have access to essential services, and feel safe participating in community life.
If elected, I will advocate for programs that help immigrants access local resources, support small businesses, provide language and job training services, and protect residents from discrimination. I will work to make District 4 a welcoming place where everyone has the opportunity to thrive. Your vote matters—together, we can build a stronger, fairer, and more inclusive District 4. I ask for your support in this election so we can make it happen.

Equal Rights

As an immigrant, I know firsthand the obstacles people face just because of who they are or where they come from. In District 4, too many residents still encounter unfair treatment that limits their opportunities in education, work, and daily life.
If elected, I will fight for policies that ensure fairness, inclusion, and equal opportunities for everyone—no matter their race, gender, or background. With your vote, we can make District 4 a place where every resident is treated with dignity and has the chance to thrive.
